Ready! Aim! …. Fire!. The Guns exploded, and debris was left over in the place where targets had been standing, every single soldier had gotten it right. It was awe-inspiring. I’m sure you get the picture, if you’re a military enthusiast, you’d understand. It’s hard to ignore things like these when you have one as a brother. This scene is what came to mind when I thought about this topic, you probably might have had something else visualized.
I remember the night of the new year, fireworks exploding in the distance, the drone of “happy new years” and “I’m glad you’re here with me” mixed in with the smell of gunpowder, it was a beautiful night. Everyone was hyped, people were setting goals, my WhatsApp status bar was filled up, quotes on preparing for the year, speeches on evaluating the past and moving forward, and watchwords for the year were posted, I was so hyped up!
Looking around, I realized I knew that there was strength for the year, there were a lot of opportunities waiting for me, but I was clueless as to what I was going after. Was I going to start a business?, or perhaps get a job?, maybe even stay at home and work on improving myself, too many options lay in front of me and confusion set in, a few days into the year and I was drained, it was as if a blanket of apathy had been put over my head, and all I wanted to do was sleep till the year was over. I realized I couldn’t stay that way, (obviously) and knew my only hope was to figure out what to do with the time and resources I had, so I turned to my heavenly Father, I knew that He alone had the perfect plan for what the year would hold, and in the place of fellowship, I got my mission, everything became clearer and strength soared through me again.
I don’t know if you are in my place, maybe you’re running, maybe you’re already tired, you might even be yet to start, but we know that as believers, every one of us is here on a mission, every person has a purpose they’re to fulfill, but so many of us end up going towards the wrong direction, using up resources where we’re not supposed to, spending time on unfruitful ground, going after every opportunity that seems like the way. We’re all on a journey, but if we don’t know the destination, everywhere begins to look like it.
The Apostles of the early Church did all things in the place of prayer and revelation. We see in the book of acts the call to ministry of Apostle Paul and Barnabas. They had stayed at the feet of the Lord for instructions and were successful in their pursuit of the prosperity of the gospel, there was strength and provision for them because they were on the right track, Acts 13:1-3. So it should be with us as believers, we’re not to be confused but rather to live our lives as soldiers on a mission, we’re to keep this sense of mission clear and pursue after it with everything provided. Do you have a business idea in mind? A job you’re planning on taking? Take it to the Lord in prayer, find out what His perfect will for your life is, you’d realize that when you’re no longer swinging around in the darkness of guesswork, but steady in the light of God’s revelation, there’s strength and prudent use of resources.
Proverbs 16:3 ISV Entrust your work to the LORD, and your planning will succeed.
Even after finding out what you need to do, stay in the source of revelation, it is there you renew your strength and mount up as the Eagle, soaring in the pursuit of purpose and succeeding at your endeavors.
Isaiah 40:31 KJV But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Have you gotten revelation? Then stand sure in God and chase the fulfilment of your goals with all it takes, write that application, send in your CV; put in your all knowing that you would pursue, overtake and recover. There are a lot of opportunities this year, but we chase after the right ones as children of revelation. 1 Corinthians 2:9-12 . Take aim in the place of prayer today, and fire on with God at your side. You’re Blessed!
