Are you a believer with questions about your Christian faith or you’re lost somewhere along the way, trying to find out if Christianity is for you? Then this book, Prove It is for you.
This book, written by Pastor Kenneth Olusanya, is a combination of short articles that will help clear out any doubt you have in your mind about Christianity. From the ones you think you have got the answers to, to the ones you’ve never even thought about.
I encourage you to get a copy of this book if you haven’t already, in the meantime, here are five key lessons you cannot afford to miss from the book;
1. Truth is NOT relative
In the world we live in, people tend to ignore the objectivity of the truth just so they can create excuses for what they believe in. Reading the first few chapters of this book, unless you refuse to be open-minded, you should be convinced that truth can only be objective or it ceases to remain the truth. Realities of life don’t change simply because you don’t believe in them. The sun doesn’t turn blue just because you had a dream that it was and you’re convinced that it is blue.
2. God doesn’t need people to defend Him but He’d like you to
I’ve heard one too many believers blurt out the phrase “Why do I have to do this, at least I’m not the one that killed Jesus”. Well news flash, you did. If not for your sins, Jesus wouldn’t have had to die in the first place. In the third chapter of this book, Pastor Kenneth explains that God isn’t weak and vulnerable that He can’t defend Himself but He wants you to. He wants you to take a stand for Him and the world and shine His light to all
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready to give an answer to every man that asketh you of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear – 1 Peter 3:15
The verse above implores us to be ready to give answers to anyone that decides to ask about our faith in Christ. As a believer, you should be able to defend your faith in Christ. Don’t be the kind of person that is moved around like paper in the wind every time someone approaches you with statements that go against your faith. As Christ died for you, you are to live for Him.
3. God is always good. He never does bad, it’s not in His nature
Have you ever questioned if God truly is good? With everything happening around you; at least even if He didn’t create evil, why does He let them happen?
16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers
17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change – James 1:16-17
God is not the source of evil. He is good and everything that comes from Him is good. He also never changes which means He can’t be bad in the nearest future; He doesn’t have mood swings. God is always good. The devil is the cause of a lot of evil in this word while some evil actually comes from the decisions we make as human beings. God still has a thing for bringing good out of bad. In situations where you have made a terrible mistake or things just don’t seem to be working out, hand it over to God and watch Him work it all out for your good.
4. Christianity is not equal to Religion
Christianity is not a mere religion with rules and regulations. In reality, Christianity speaks a whole different language from religion. In moments that religion says you can never measure up, Christianity reminds you that though you can never measure up by your works, the sacrifice Christ made on that cross qualifies you now and forevermore. When religion says do, Christianity says done. Glory to God!
Christianity is not a religion; neither is it merely a lifestyle. It is a new and regenerated life that is accompanied by a lifestyle.
5. There is life beyond the grave
But whoever drinks of the water that I will give Him will never be thirsty again, but the water that I will give him will become a fountain of water springing up to eternal life. -John 4:14
For the believer in Christ, there is life after death. We don’t vanish into thin air. We have a promise in Christ that assures us of the certainty of our eternity. We have a living hope and death has been defeated by the Spirit of God who lives in each and every one of us. This is the reality of every believer; we don’t earn eternal life. It is a gift from God, a promise He keeps. Like Christ rose from the grave, so will every believer rise to glory. Glory to God!
As a believer, going through this book has cleared a lot of doubts I had. If you are truly looking for answers and you’ re ready to learn, you should get this book. It is not only enlightening, it is also fun to read and self-explanatory.
