Hear Say

You recall how growing up in Nigeria, you heard folks utter words like; requalize, penarity or sang the lyrics of some popular songs then like; jangilover epo motor, arise oh compassion, to serve without and might, oh sigosigo praise tha Lord etc. Lol! Gradually for some, such words assembled your mind until it ignorantly dispersed in sprightly rambunctious moments via your tongue.

Years after a strew on this assembly occurred in that equalize, penalty, jingle over like a moving motor, arise oh come patriots, to serve with heart and might, oh singer sing on praise the Lord etc. progressively revealed their true identities/character by precise/accurate information. I know right!

One could conclude that, the absence of accurate knowledge kept their true identities in the dark init???

Up until now, such is the case for many even as touching the most important personality in their lives, which in most case happens to be GOD. Yeah GOD! The central theme for this article.

You might be wondering “where’s this heading to?” If so, your thoughts are as good as mine.

So after some enquiries from random and close folks which eventually developed into a daunting moment of truth, it became known that the knowledge of God possessed by many was/is an accretion of Men’s personal experiences which varies per man.

Thus, consciously validating their own experience of God. However for some, He simply can’t be known.

It suffices to say; there is a lack of accurate knowledge on the true identity of God and by such notion births the various explanation of God amongst believers.

Could there be an accurate knowledge of God or can He be known? Let’s find out.

Substantially we have 66 books, wow! Sixty six books containing a precise knowledge on the personality of God, I mean in a common-sense approach, how would you not want to be known yet give so much details about yourself? I submit to you thus that God definitely wants to be known and through these books we’d know Him.

The Bible (66books) as it were, is segmented into two; THE OLD TESTAMENT AND NEW TESTAMENT (containing the 4 Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, the Epistles and Revelation). And in this is an effective transmission of a progressive revelation of facts about God. Therefore you can’t still sustain the age long myth of a mysterious God especially because of the Old Testament books.

For example in the Old Testament there was a man who had such issue on the identity of God, this man wrote a lot about his experience of God years after years. Only to conclude by saying his experience of God was by hearsay (rumors)!

Job 42:4-5 “You told me, ‘Listen, and let me do the talking. Let me ask the queations. You give the answers.’ I admit I once lived by rumors of you; now I have it all firsthand from my own eyes and ears!”

After he had said words like “The Lord giveth and taketh”

Another would be Prophet Isaiah in his book Isiah 45:7

“I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things.”

Yet another,

Amos 3:6 “Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? Shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?”

This and so much more begs for studying/proper bible interpretation to clearly see/know God.

John 1:17-18 puts an asterisk as to what the Old Testament says about God. In other words, the Old Testament on its own cannot be relied upon to describe God. Yet it contains information that describes God.

God’s first person narrative is found IN CHRIST. Thus John says; the only begotten, he hath declared him.

Declared here is from the Greek word “Exegeomi” which means to accurately interpret. Why use Exegeomi?

  1. The character of God needed interpretation.
  2. Jesus didn’t interpret God via visions and all.

He always referred to the scriptures.

Therefore, the right interpretation of God in the scriptures (Genesis to Malachi) will be found in CHRIST; what was promised, what was done in his earthly work and most importantly, in His resurrection.

Romans 1:1-3 “Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, (which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures), concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh.”

John 1:45 “Philip findeth Nathaniel and saith unto him, we have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

John 5:39 “Search the scriptures (Genesis to Malachi); for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”
